A letter from our executive director
KidsCampLive--Alive and ready to thrive with your support
2020-21 Academic School Year
2020-21 Academic School Year
Dear parents,
I am writing today to ask for your support in helping us continue KidsCampLive (KCL) as we enter the academic school year 2020-2021. If you have experienced our programs, you will agree with parents like Dr. Barry Horne, a Massachusetts-based working father, who depends on KCL to provide a learning environment that is challenging, positive, and socially stimulating. Speaking of the soft- and life-skills that we bring to every lesson plan, Dr. Horne shares the benefits of KCL as exemplified in his son, Kilian (age 8).

"We are still extremely careful about the pandemic, so it’s a good way for our son to socialize with other kids right now. He also learns a lot and comes away with good, positive messages. He’s been very into eating a balanced diet and being healthy since you covered those topics at camp. It’s interesting what peer pressure and a third-party adult that he respects can accomplish--because we’ve discussed those things with him before without him showing any interest. Thank you."

The uncertainty of our lives during the COVID-19 pandemic is creating stress for everyone including our children. While the highest levels of government are encouraging schools to open their doors, decisions and implementation plans are being formed on a state-by-state basis. And even within the states, you will find variations by district or region. As parents, it's difficult to know what to do. Should they send their children back to school and physical classrooms that barely resemble what things were like just at the beginning of 2020? Or do you take on the responsibility of homeschooling--for many families, this means splitting time between parent-teaching and employment?
As with every state here in California, the July 2020 guidelines for safe returns to school are stringent and will, if followed, help to certainly minimize the risk to students and families, teachers, and administration and the spread of COVID-19 in the schools. But minimizing risk is both relative and subjective--similar to the risk we take going to the grocery store, bank, gas station or other public location.

KidsCampLive, in its current form, doesn't take the place of school. But it does provide a unique community and safe place for kids to learn, grow, and interact with other kids. We also offer 1-on-1 or small group and virtual tutoring to our KCL families. Why not join parents Barry and Janet and their children Kilian and Nigel for a great learning experience at KidsCampLive. Janet Snook of Southern California, a working mother of 9-year-old Nigel, says "give it a try" . . .
"I encourage you to check out KidsCampLive. It's a fun and educational online camp that my son has been doing a couple of mornings each week. Nigel is laughing throughout and is having so much fun with this group--his new friends. The theme this week is Healthy Eating. Previous topics included Plant Sciences, Creative Writing, NASA Space Camp week, Frogs, Toads & Chickens, Be the Captain of your Ship, Create your own Character, Earth Week, and Cooking. It's face-to-face without the masks and without the exposure--give it a try for free."
